Sichuan occupies a vital position in the
overall layout of China's national economic growth. The output of major
industrial & agricultural products in Sichuan leads the national
list.
- Sichuan deserves the No. 1 agricultural
province in China. It has been the major yielding area for grain,
pig, rapeseed oil, silk cocoon, and varies cash crops and its total
output tops the nationwide list.
- Sichuan obtains a complete industrial
categories. Machine building, electronic, automobile, metallurgical,
chemical, building material, food, silk, leather, etc. have been
taking important positions in China. Meanwhile, a group of mainstay
enterprises have formed in the province.The capacity of Sichuan's
iron & steel industry is among the top 4 in China. The Chengdu
Seamless Steel Tubing Plant which is the most comprehensive
biggest-sized and professional seamless steel tubing production base
in China. Silk industry in Sichuan is important in China. Its silk
cocoon's output and silk reeling capacity rank the first. Silk and
silkware's output rank the third. Shu embroidery is one of four
famous embroideries in China.
- Sichuan is a tremendously huge market for
consumer products; the province's retail sales volume for consumer
products is the nation's fourth biggest, its number of retail shops
for every 10,000persons is the country's biggest. This huge market
has great potentials for expansion with the people's living standard
ever increasing.

now, 17 nature reserve regions have been set up. The total
forest land in Sichuan is 1,153 Hectares, ranking second
nationally. Hence it is one of the three biggest forest zones in
China with 20.4% of forest coverage. Besides,Sichuan is the
major producer of the herbal medicine.
- With 1,633 Hectares of pasture land,
Sichuan is one of the five largest forest zones in China.
- There are 1,100 species of animal
resources in Sichuan, accounting for 50% of China's total.
- The unique natural condition and long
history and brilliant culture have crowned Sichuan with rich
scenic spots and places of historical interests. The provincial
tourism resources top the list nationwide:38 historical and
cultural cities, 21 scenic spots at the national and provincial
level and 150 national and provincial protected historical
relics.
