Songxianqiao Souvenir & 2nd-hand Antique Market

Songxianqiao market, located nearby Dufu Thatched Cottage, made up of 2sections: boothes and shops. The booths stretch one or two hundred meters along a path on either side, and the shops cover a vast, seemingly endless, area.
The goods on the booths are a mixture of different items, basically dominated by one category and complemented by many alternatives. Of course, most of them are second hand goods, such as copper coins, old issue RMB, badges, illustrated books, old-fashioned watches and timepieces, gramophones, and even wall calendars, diplomas and marriage licences from times gone by. On these booths, you can find copies of almost all the famous bronze and pottery cultural relics, and some small goods as well, such as bone carvings and hairpins.
The categories of goods sold in the shops are relatively fixed. Some sell calligraphy and painting only, some specialize in ancient doors, windows and furniture, some just sell jewelries and jade articles, some only deal with potteries.......there are also a few small shops specializein in Tibetan-style articles and traditional Miao nationality's clothes featuring rich nationalities's characteristics.

"China" news: The first souvenir purchasing center in Sichuan was officially open to the public, punctuating a full stop for Sichuan's no professional souvenir history. Though listing tourism as one of its 6 pillar industries, Sichuan is not advanced enough in developing souvenirs and fostering market. Thus after inspecting Yunnan, the Provicial Tourism Bureau established the center at Songxianqiao Art City of Chengdu Huanhua Scenic Spot eventually. Situated between Qingyang Palace and Dufu's Thatch, the purchasing center is the largest professional souvenir market in Southwest China with a total area of 18,000 sq m.
