     In deep mountains on both banks of the Jinshajiang River at the Sichuan-Tibet border, there live some Tibetans of patriarchal clan. Given this situation, such primitive form of social organization is still full of life even today. They worship the Nyingma Sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Statistics show they have a population of some 10,000 today.
    Gorba organizations are formed according to surnames or occupations. Most of them are located in the Gaiyu, Shama and Shanyan townships of Baiyu County. Some others are found in Gongjor County in eastern Tibet, which faces Baiyu County across the Jinshajiang River.

Magic lamp

The most attractive legend of Shanyan is about the Magic Lamp of Semainiuchang. It was said that the magic lamp was a diversification of cimelia of sky, and never went out.
Around us were typical bare karst corrosion cliffs. That cliff which was said to have the magic lamp was a 300-meter-high crag. A nature-made gap on the cliff extended from the top to the bottom, contained a rutilant object. We couldn't confer it. Whether we changed to any position, the light of that object never changed, and Just on top of it, it seemed that there was a partly hidden and partly visible head portrait of Sakyamuni, especially the eyes, nose and mouth. All of us were astonished by such unique vision.
Till now, there is still no any conclusion for the strange phenomenon about the magic lamp.
