Baifujinji (in Chinese), Chinese copper pheasant (Chrysolophus amherstiae  or, Lady Amhersts pheasant), worldwide famous ornamental bird, is a bird of the order Galliformes and the family Phasianidae. These are native to south western China,  the habitat in China's Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan and Tibet provinces. They are elegant with beautiful plumage. They feed on grain, berries, seeds and insects and prefer walking to flying. Chinese Copper Pheasants grow to a length of about 1.2 meters. Their bellies are white. Lady Amhersts pheasant is protected under China's Grade II Protection Designation. This Chrysolophus amherstiae prefers to run rather than fly. The male is very colourful with an extremely long black and white tail, greenish back, red and yellow rump and black-and-white neck ruff. The females are similar to pheasant.

The better places for watching / birding / photography wild Chinese copper pheasant (Chrysolophus amherstiae  or, Lady Amhersts pheasant): Kangding, Mengtun river valley, Wawushan nature reserve in Sichuan province.
Time to photography watch birds: all year around, but better in Apr / May /Jun and Sep in Sichuan province.
