Yiou (in Chinese), Larus Relictus (Relic Gull), 1st  class protecting rare birds of China, this species has a small, declining population (now about 4000-10000) as a result of predation, disturbance, variable climatic factors at breeding colonies and the development of coastal wetlands in its presumed wintering range. 
In recent years it's been recorded as a large number of this birds for breeding in Ortos (E'erduosi), Inner Mongolia, China. Another to see this bird just in Beidaihe.
Length 44cm, body gray, black in head and neck 
Distribution in China: Innor Mongolia, Hebei, Shanxi, Beijing, Gansu. Wetland and feeding fish and leaf, nest in sand island with water grass. a brood 2-3 eggs in middle May, then brooding 24-26days, then about 40days later the young bird can fly in sky.
