Baijingchangweiji (in Chinese), the White-necked long-tailed Pheasant (
syrmaticus ellioti, elliot's pheasant) is categorized as rare birds
class 1 in China. Endemic to China, With an alias of
striation-back fowl, the bird belongs to the Phasianidae family of
Galliformes. Its scientific name is Syrmaticus reevesii (Latin), or
white-necked long-tailed pheasant (English).
They inhabit at the elevation of 300 to 2000 meters, resident birds, you
can see them in broadleaf forests and mixed broadleaf-conifer forests,
also in flourishing canebrake and under wood. They feed mainly on
legume, berries and young leaves. Usually they begin to breed in the
middle ten days of March. 5-7 eggs per nest, which are creamy white,
light rosy or yellow, without spots. Eggs are hatched by female birds,
and the breeding period lasts about 23-25 days.
Ranged from Anhui, Fujian, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Zhejiang,
Guangxi, and also in Guizhou.
