Wildlife Photograph Tour to China Golden Monkeys

The golden monkey is one of the most beautiful and rare animals in the world. And, it is unique to China. They are highly endangered , top grade protected in China. The golden monkey has a soft pelt, a round head, short ears and a tail as long as or longer than its body length. A pair of bright and beautiful eyes sparkles on its azure-blue face. It has a small snub-nose and a sarcoma at the corner of its mouth, which becomes bigger and harder with time. Its long tresses resemble shiny, gold wool .
Scientific name: Pygathrix roxellana, rhinopithecus roxellana.
Chinese children are very familiar with the legend of a magical monkey called "Sunwukong" (Monkey King), who helps the weak with kindness, and fights evil with justice. But the real monkeys are fighting mankind for their own survival. There are three species of Golden Monkeys who all live in the forests of China, with some species in the mountains. Sichuan Golden Monkeys live in Sichuan, Hubei, Chongqing, Shaanxi, Gansu (around Qinling Mountain range and Shennongjia area, about 20000 monkeys), Guizhou Golden monkeys live in Fanjingshan mountains only in Guizhou (about 750 monkeys), Yunnan Golden Monkeys live in Yunnan and eastern Tibet area (Hengduanshan area, about 1300monkeys)
Snub-nosed monkeys live in Asia only, with a range covering southern China (especially Sichuan, Hubei, Shaanxi, Gansu, Yunnan, Tibet, and Guizhou)  . They grow to a length of 51 to 83 cm with a tail of 55 to 97 cm.
Snub-nosed monkeys inhabit mountain forests up to a height of 4000 m, in the winter moving into the deeply secluded regions. They spend the majority of their life in the trees. They live together in very large groups of up to 600 members, splitting up into smaller groups in times of food-scarcity, such as in the winter.
There are total about 10 nature reserves within China Golden Monkey protected.
