Biodiversity index Shennongjia National Nature Reserve, Shennongjia Mount, Shennongjia Geological Park, locate in the western section of Hubei province, lies between Daba and Wudang Mountains. Location at 113˚3'-110˚34'E and 31˚22'-31˚37', it covers an area of 90,000 ha. The special terrain in Shennongjia creates a warm and humid climate, making it a paradise of plants and animals at the juncture of the North and South China, as well as lying between the transitional zone of southwestern high mountain and low hilly land. The Shennong Summit at about 3105m in altitude, and total about 31 peaks above 2500m in altitude in this reserve, and the lowest in this reserve is 480m. So the vertical zonation of the vegetable type is very clear from the economic forests to evergreen and deciduous broad-leafed forests(above 1000m-1700m), to the coniferous forest belt (2100-2400m), to the forges fir and fortune rhododendron, to the grove arrow banboo belt, to the alpine meadows. So total about 3139 species of high plants, 926 species of low plants, and 1891 species of medical plants (total 2013 species of Chinese herbal medicine), know as The Oriental Botanic Garden and the natural gene bank of biological species, Chinese Herbal Bank, it shelters some of the world's rare and endangered plants and animals, such as Dove tree etc. There are about 77 species of animals, 235 butterflies, 285 of birds, 27 reptile, 33 amphibian, 35 fishes. The protected as: South China Tiger, Golden Monkey etc. The best attractive animals are white animals such as white bear, white muntjac, white monkey, white snake etc. In Shennongjia, one Golden Monkey

Base just in Dalongtan area, where is one of three most population area
in Golden Monkey.
