| Tour Code: T-TT138C 14 days from arriveal at Lhasa airport until departure at Lhasa airport Overland
tour through Kongpo to the Tsangpo valley and the great “oracle lake”
of Lhamo Lhatso. This
trip moves east to the unique area of Kongpo, then turns at the junction
with the Tangpo valley and follows it back upstream to the remote but
crucial “oracle lake”of Lhamo Lhatso before continuing west directly
to the airport .The simple itinerary is deceptive as this trip visits a
diverse and remote selection of sites not on the usual tourist track. The
frist few days in Lhasa will include the visit to the important sites and
some times to acclimatze. Then we drive north-east to visit the massive
hilltop complex of Ganden monstery and on to camp below the dramatic
Drigung Till and associated nunnery of Tirdrom. Although only one of day
from Lhasa ,this is perhaps one of the most powerful retreat –sites in
Tibet(please see”Central Tibet camping “above). We then continue east over a pass and follow a new watershed into the lowlands of Konpo. This entire area is wellknown for its forests, the different clothing and speaking style of its inhabitants ,and association with the semi-mythic King Gesar of Ling.Ruins of stone towers dotted around the landscape add to the mysterious aura. We will camp beside the alpine lake Bagsum tso with a relaxing day to explore the forested lakeside .As we move around to the Tsangpo valley we will visit the striking temples of BuchuLamaling ,especially important to the Nyingma,”Ancient “,school of Tibetan Buddhism. The last section of our trip follows the great Tsangpo river upstream into the remote area of Dakpo. We will make a diversion to visit the life-supporting lake of the protector-deity for all Tibet-Palden Lhamo.High lamas would travel to this lake to receive visions important to matters of state .We will camp in the valley and a strenuos day hike will allow us to view the jewel-like lake from above, on the traditional ridge. After visiting LhamoLhatso we will drive drictly to Tsetang and you will have one evening in the hotel before fling out the next day. Day 1-3:Lhasa sightseeing , Day 4-5 :via Ganden to
Drigung camp and Tirdrom. Day 6-8:to Bagsum laeside , Day 9-12: via BuchLamaling
